Dentist Who Performs Root Canals
A root canal, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental procedure which treats teeth which have experienced extensive injury from infection to the nerves and soft inner pulp. Root canals are also necessary if a tooth has become so damaged or decayed that future infection appears unavoidable.
A crown or filling will be required following a root canal treatment to complete the restoration. Root canals allow the affected tooth to last a lifetime and spare part of the tooth unlike other alternatives such as an extraction followed by bridgework or a dental implant which requires complete removal of the damaged tooth.
